The Great Escape opens at 10 a.m.
New offerings include the Sasquatch drop ride, a wider variety of food options and the debut of seven shows.
The Sasquatch will be unveiled to the public on opening day. Standing 192 feet tall, the ride will shoot riders 19 stories into the air in three seconds before plummeting them back to earth in a series of air cushioned bounces.
The park’s new eatery options include Skillet Market, located in the Fest Area, and Papa John’s, located in the water park.
New shows include Retro Rock, The Best of Dick Clark’s Bloopers, and Mr. Six Dance Party. Mr. Six will be in the park all season showing off signature dance moves and posing for pictures.
The park’s operating hours during opening weekend will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday, August 27, 2009 - Great Camp Santanoni Tour (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM) Great Camp Santanoni, Newcomb, NY Wiawaka is partnering with Adirondack Archictectural Heritage to offer this day long tour of Great Camp Santanoni, led by Susan Arena. The tour includes stops at the Gate Lodge, the remains of the 200 acre farm at Santanoni, and the Main Camp on Newcomb Lake. Participants will see restoration work in progress and view some of the camps interiors. The round trip walk is 9.8 miles on a gently sloping carriage raod. The tour begins at 10am and ends around 4pm. The fee is $20; a limited number of seats are available on a horse drawn wagon for an additional $20 fee. Visitors to the area shouldnt miss a trip to the quiet shores of Lake Luzerne (just 12 miles from busy Lake George and 15 miles from bustling Saratoga Springs) where the Luzerne Music Center offers 32 concerts over its very intensive eight-week season every July and August. One of the best concert series for the price this summer, featuring orchestral professionals from the US and Canada who are in residence at the Center and are instructing the Centers talented young musicians, ages 9 - 18. Luzerne faculty members perform everything from Baroque music to jazz pieces by Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck, and new American works by the Centers faculty and students. Because of the Centers vibrant student body, the atmosphere of this concert series is dignified, yet open and interactive in nature -- its purpose, to introduce a wide variety of repertoire to the students as part of their curriculum.
